Be A Catechist
BACK TO CATECHISM
Be A Catechist!
It is indeed a joy to receive the gift of faith but an even greater joy to share the
gift of faith with the children and teens of our parish. As catechists we work hand in hand with parents and the parish community to provide holistic faith formation programmes and activities for almost a thousand children and youth in our parish.
It is our aim to provide an environment that is conducive for our children and youth to:
EXPERIENCE THE LOVE OF CHRIST AND BE A BEACON OF LOVE TO OTHERS
DEVELOP A STRONG FOUNDATION IN THE KNOWLEDGE OF OUR FAITH
BE WITNESSES AND DISCIPLES OF CHRIST IN PROCLAIMING THE WORD OF GOD
If you enjoy sharing the gift of our faith with children and teens, do get in touch with us!

10 Reasons Why You Should Be A Catechist:
The best way to learn is to teach!
We all are called to grow in our faith, and the best way to learn is to teach. When you instruct others, your own understanding increases.
The resources and materials you are exposed to as a catechist will surely refresh and expand your own knowledge.
You will be practicing stewardship.
Being a catechist is a way of being a good steward by giving a bit of your most precious resource – your time. You might not be able to
donate as much money as you would like, but we all have time and talent to share.
Show your family that you value Religious Education
Taking time out of your life to teach shows your own children, siblings and family members that you put a high priority on religious education. You may find you are teaching them as much by your example as you are your students by your lesson plan.
Be A Role Model.
Our young people need examples of ordinary people who do the right thing just because it is the right thing. As a catechist, you get to model behaviours young people might not learn anywhere else. Be a role model for our young people!
Be part of a dynamic faith community.
As a catechist, you enter into a community that will support you on your faith journey, pray for and with you and encourage you in your Catholic way of life.
It’s what we are called to do.
By teaching the next generation about the Good News, you are fulfilling your part of the Great Commandment. It may be the most important thing you will ever do! Come and share the Good News!
Share the Truth!
Catechists speak the truth about God, faith and morals. The world needs the message of the Gospel and the way to true happiness; as a catechist, you offer a hungry world that sustenance.
Spending time with energetic, enthusiastic young people gives you renewed energy and vitality! Kids remind adults to live and laugh in the moment and get enthused about things like holy days and stories of saints. Come and have fun sharing the faith!
Let your faith come alive!
By acting on what you believe, you become a participant in building up God’s kingdom! As a catechist, you will discover that prayer, liturgy and your own relationship with God will become more vibrant and meaningful.
Sharing the faith is an honour!
If you’ve been approached to be a catechist, or if you feel the call, you are being asked to do something special for God, for the Church and our fellow Catholics!
